A hot spring is a spring produced by the emergence of geothermally heated groundwater that rises from the Earth's crust.
Because heated water can hold more dissolved solids than cold water, warm and especially hot springs often have very high mineral content, containing everything from simple calcium to lithium, and even radium. Because of both the folklore and the apparently claimed medical value some of these springs have, they are often popular tourist destinations, and locations for rehabilitation clinics for those with disabilities.
The Hot Springs are a short drive from Doi Nok Strawberry Resort (approx 29km/18m), along a beautiful scenic route through mountain and forest areas.
The Hot Springs site is quite large and has pool houses for both single immersion, and larger pools for swimming. You can choose to be on your own or in a shared pool with a choice of single pools, double pools and an outdoor one.
They are naturally warm and an excellent start to the day in the 'cold season', but still enjoyable in rainy and hot seasons too!
If you do not have your own swimming costumes, they will supply them; together with a towel.
You are able to shower there after being in the pool, but the volcanic aroma can linger on your skin a little!
There is a restaurant there and is a nice area to walk around and take photgraphs.
Cost at time of visit (2015) - 150 THB including towel and bathing suit.
